Editorial Illustration Prompt Patterns

Translate an abstract article idea into a legible visual metaphor without fabricating documentary evidence.

For: Editors and content teams commissioning conceptual artwork

State the editorial thesis

Reduce the article to one tension, comparison, or consequence. The prompt should communicate that idea before adding decorative style language.

Choose a readable metaphor

Describe one primary subject and one supporting symbol, then define hierarchy, negative space, palette, and publication crop. Avoid stacking unrelated metaphors.

Label synthetic work

Do not present generated scenes as photographs of real events. Review names, symbols, and text, and disclose synthetic imagery where the publication context requires it.
